Hi!

I wish you all a happy new year!

After installed OS4 final, sadly no longer be able to start my Hollywood script because an out of memory error of CreateTextObject.

Andreas, you said in your recent mail, that the entire text library is changed for the next release , but please tell us something about the other improvements!

Will there be arexx and/or bsdsocket support in Hollywood 2.5? I think these two are the best missing features.

If don't have time for these, than we should really need to find somebody who can make these extensions.

May I ask about the price of the next release? I would like to secure the founding :)

Hang on... Hollywood 2.5 will soon be ready.

Well, 2.5 can do anti-aliasing for all graphics primitives, it can draw all gfx primitives with rotation/shadow/border (all with variable color, transparency and settings), brush scaling/rotation can be anti-aliased, rotzoom is possible, the text library has been completely rewritten and is more flexible (including support for edged text, text with shadow, outline text, transparency and more), new streaming classes for the music library, ARexx interface, optimized version for AROS, optimized timer (10% faster), save PNG files with alpha channel, support for #ANIMDISK layers, automatic looping of music files (e.g. mp3s), vanilla copy possible for alpha channel data, lots of bug fixes and minor other things.

PLUS! A huge update for Hollywood Designer is coming which supports all the cool new 2.0 & 2.5 features.

ARexx support is in it. Happy talking to other programs from Hollywood now.
If don't have time for these, than we should really need to find somebody who can make these extensions.

Price is not decided yet.

Hello Andreas!

Thanks for the valuable information! For me this will be a much anticipated update (if it is the correct word for it :-) .

Hi Andreas!

This is just a polite question for you: Could we see a progress report on the forthcoming Hollywood update?

That's the problem with announcements. I said "end of January" but that estimation was a bit too positive. Hollywood 2.5 is done, but I'm still working on Hollywood Designer 2.0. I want to release them together so Hollywood 2.5 has to wait until Designer is finished. But it should really be very very soon now. Let's say end of February at the latest... maybe earlier. Depends on how much time it takes to get the programs running on the other platforms. Currently everything runs only on MorphOS. The biggest problem is the WarpOS build because I have to compile that on my old A1200 PPC which has been showing some signs of age lately :( But I hope that I can get it running for the time needed to build & test Hollywood for WarpOS.
